About these Mandala pages

Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle. A mandala is built from rings that repeat the same shapes around a center point, so every petal has matching twins all the way around. That symmetry is what makes coloring one so calming: pick a color for one petal, then repeat it around the whole ring.

Many people color from the center outward so the pattern grows evenly, and keep to three or four colors per ring so the design stays clear. Mandalas have been part of Hindu and Buddhist art for centuries, where they are used as an aid to meditation. Our simpler mandalas have large petals for older kids, while the detailed ones for teens and adults have fine lines and dozens of tiny shapes.
